What happened to originality? Your NEW Jumbo Krispies are NOTHING like the original Rice Krispies. I have eaten Rice Krispies for 50 years and this is such a disappointment. What ever happened to being new and innovative ??? Is their no one at Kellogg's that can come up with a NEW name.....instead of ruining an Original favorite. Robert Mynsberge

2. A little variation that I love to add is a teaspoon of vanilla, add it in just before you stir in the Rice Krispies so it doesn't over cook and loose flavor by adding it in earlier. Also, two tricks my mom taught me for spreading the treats into the pan is to get it into the serving pan immediately while it is still very hot, cover it with a sheep of wax paper and use your hands to spread it out through the wax paper - no water needed - no risk of soggy krispie treats! Very hot water is the very best way to clean up the pot and stirring utensil - let it soak a bit then you should be able to wipe it all right out. I loved reading the reviews and comments - it absolutely boggles my mind that there are still people out there who have never had a Rice Krispie Treat and live in America! We must have had these at nearly every function we went to as kids - Our moms would bring them in to share with the class on our birthdays too. Now my three boys love them too and even help to make them!

3. I just successfully made my first batch of rice krispie treats!!! They are yum! I totally failed the other night because I followed the instuctions on the marshmallow package which said to use the microwave. The marshmallows were overheated and the result tasted like burnt plastic. The key is to melt them over super low heat on the stove in a non-reactive saucepan and stir constantly.

4. This is a great recipe - an American classic. To switch it up, I used carmel-vanilla flavored marshmallows -- yummy! For the marshmallows that didn't melt - two things to try differently: make sure you have fresh marshmallows, and I always use Kraft Jetpuffed marshmallows. I've had decent results with Campfire marshmallows, but poor results with store-brand marshmallows. Also, you have to be sure to stir as they melt so the bottom ones don't burn or stick. Before you add the marshmallows, use your spatula to pull the melted butter up the sides of your cooking pan so the marshmallow doesn't stick as you melt and stir.

5. I leave out one cup of krispies - I add 1/4 cup crunchy peanut butter to margarine and marshmallow mixture, after removing from heat and adding the 5 cups of krispies, I also add a 1/4 cup of chocolate chips, 1/4 cup of sweetened coconut, and a 1/4 cup of chopped peacan.................very yummy - Mom taught me this years ago.

6. After loosing my Husband in a car wreck seven weeks ago, I noticed my 4 year old daughter quickly pushing away from me. I tried to think of things for us to do (mother and Daughter) to get her mind off the recent pass and no matter what I did she continued to push. Until , this morning when a commercial for Rice Krispies came on the one with the mother and kids all working together. She than turned to me and asked if we could make some, so we did and had a blast doing so. Today is the first time in seven weeks I feel like I have my beautiful, loving, full of life daughter back and I don't think I could thank you enough ! I feel as if your products saved my little girl !!

7. i have loved these treats since I was a lil girl. Recently I made them for my son's birthday party but instead of cutting them in squares I put them in a cupcake pan to cool then let him and all his friends ice them and put sprinkles on them themselves. They had so much fun even for being a group of 8 yr old boys. lol..

8. I just made these and it was so easy, simple, not too sticky. I used a nonstick pot to melt everything then turned heat off and let it sit there as I mixed in the Rice Krispie Cereal with a Pampered chef Spatula which is heat resistant up to like 500 degree's it didn't stick very much then, I used a glass 13x9x2 pan and just used a little spray (pam) in the bottom and pushed it down to make it packed down and let it cool. I then cut it and it came right out. Hope this helps anyone having problems. Happy Cooking :-)

9. Wanted to give all of my daughter's Kindergarten class a gift. But with 25 kids I didn't.couldn't spend much. We made the original Rice Krispi treats and cut them in squares wrapped them individually in clear and red plastic wrap and tied a bow like a gift around them. The kids didn't like them-the LOVED them. Merry Christmas and may God Bless You-He loves YOU very much.

10. I love the Rice Crispie Treats! I always use Rice Crispies. I can tell a difference the times I used a different brand. I have been making these for at least 40 years, so over the years I have come up with some helpful hints. I naw make them in the microwave. I make mine in a large jelly roll pan, so I do 1.5 times the recipe (60 marshmallows, 8 cups Rice Crispies, and 5 T butter) When it is time to press the Rice Crispie Treat mixture into the pan, butter some wax paper, or simply butter the back side of a large spoon and press into the pan. If they start to stick to the paper or spoon, just re-butter until they are firly pressed into the pan.

14. These are THE BEST!!! When I was little my mom made "Fudge Krispies". You melt together in microwave a bag of butterscotch chips with 1/2c peanut butter and then pour that over 9 cups of Rice Krispies and mix well, pat 1/2 that mixture into 9X13 pan and chill. Then melt 6oz semi-sweet choc chips in microwave and then stir in about a TBSP of milk and a TBSP of powdered sugar to the melted choc chips (this will cause the chocolate to start to stiffen up, carefully spread over chilled layer and then top with rest of Krispie mixture and press down hard, keep chilled in fridge and cut into squares. The middle hardens like a fudge candy bar. They are AWESOME!!!!!!!

15. I have used the strawberry flavored marshmallows instead of the regular ones and it gives the treats a nice color and flavor.

16. We take the regular recipe, add green food coloring, shape them into little wreaths and add little cinnamon candies to make it look like the wreaths have berries! It's easy and fun and the kids LOVE them!

17. My fellow workers are driven by chocolate so I changed up the recipe and used Cocoa Krispies and added a 6 oz bag of chocolate chips just after the marshmallows are melted. Then a I add the Cocoa Krispies. Big time WOW at the office bake sale. Sold out 50 of them in less than 10 minutes!

Placed on a cake stand and decorated around it!! Was the hit of the party!! Highly suggest doing this - fun - fun - fun!!

20. For sticky spoon problems use a SILICONE spoon or spatula for removing marshmallow creme out of the jar. Use the same spatula for mixing ingredients in the bowl when using the microwave for the recipe. The warm mixture removes most of the marshmallow creme from the spatula. No spraying and little mess. Silicone spoons and spatulas are dishwasher safe. I use a dinner fork to even the mixture in the pan. It does not stick and provides an easy way to smooth out the mixture evenly and even compacts the mixture. I use KRAFT marshmallow creme since we had a mess melting the marshmallows. They were old. The marshmallow creme lasts longer. It is always convenient to use and easy to have in the cupboard. Silicone spoons and spatulas are dishwasher safe and easy to wash in the machine. Just remember to recycle the container.

21. Years ago when I was a kid they made rice krispies that has little marshmellows in them (like the ones in "Lucky Charms") and my mom used to make rice krispie treats with them, I've been wanting them since, I recently went to an Amish Farmers Market and they sold bags of marshmellows from cereal (like the ones in "Lucky Charms") so I bought them and made marshmellow rice krispies treats, you don't melt the cereal marshmellows I used a cup of them and only 5 cups of rice krispies...Talk about reliving my childhood, only if mom made them instead. LOL!

22. I find that if you turn the heat off but leave the pan on top of the burner so it gets residual heat that it makes the marshmallow easier to work with. I then put the mixture into a parchment paper lined pan. It doesn't stick and is easy to lift out without all the mess. I actually never put my hands into the mixture. I butter a spatula to press it into the pan and I use a stainless steel spoon when melting everything together. A little stickiness is to be expected but it usually ends up ok. I would recommend that, if that doesn't work for you, buy a heat-resistant silicone spatula since they are very good with sticky stuff! Good luck!

26. Rice Krispie treats are the absolute easiest & fastest desert to prepare in a pinch for time. And they are something that almost everyone likes. I have found a few different twists on these wonderful & timeless treats. Melt some chocolate chips in a double broiler and inset a stick or popsicle stick in one end of the treat and dip 1/2 way or even ALL the way in chocolate and let dry on waxed paper. And for a even different twist you can add some peanut butter to your melted chocolate and then you have a chocolate / peanut butter glaze for dipping. They are wonderful dipped this way. If you like a harder glaze you can melt a little parafin in with your chocolate. Take these to a church social and watch them disappear. Kids & adults alike will just love them!

27. I just made Halloween rice krispie treats by adding a box of orange jello (for added flavor) to the melted marshmallow mix and a little orange food coloring. I made them before using orange kool-aid, but they tasted a little funny (sour). I also used my Pampered Chef large scoop, generously sprayed with cooking spray!, to make them into cute little pumpkin shapes. It really does make a huge difference in stickiness if you can remember to butter/grease the walls of the pan you melt the marshmallows in BEFORE you add the marshmallows. And I also highly recommend a silicon rubber scraper for stirring, spooning and smashing the mix. I never was able to keep my wooden spoon slick enough to not get all gummed up while working with the marshmallow mix.

28. after reading all the reviews and tips, thought i'd add one that i didn't see. my mom used to put cut up marachino cherries into the mixture, or sometimes just on top as decoration during holiday time. tastes good and brightens them up. to those that can't have the marshmallows cause of the pork geletin, you can use the marshmallow creme in the jar as a substitute, it is made with cornstarch instead.:) going to go show my daughter now how to make for the first time.

29. These are classic! I loved these as a child, and still love them now with children of my own! I like them plain, but also enjoy them with mix-ins. My favorite mix-in is butterscotch chips - my grandmother taught me that. They give the rice krispie treats something special, and are just really yummy!

30. Here's a tip to help with the stickiness - use a glass of water to dip your spatula in as you are spreading the mixture into your pan and nothing will stick (works great if you get any on your fingers too!) Hope this helps! Happy cooking!

31. I'm 67 years old and my favorite Christmas memory is when my grandmother would send a big box of presents (she was in Oklahoma and we were in California) with admonitions "not to open until Christmas." However, her Rice Krispy treats were marked, "open now." Even though both my parents were local bakers, my grandma's treats were the best of all! I now plan to make them with my two year old grandson. Thanks for the memories.

32. In college I didn't have a stove or a fridge but I loved Rice Krispie treats so I figured out a way to do it but it is still my favorite way to do it! I do them in the microwave but I use Crisco instead of butter (I like the butter flavored Crisco best ) They don't get soggy like they do with butter and they stay fresh longer! Yum-o!

33. I am a school teacher and make Rice Crispie Treats with my kids often. We make them and then cut out shapes to go with the stories we are reading with cookie cutters. We have made peguins, mittens, snowmen, farm animals... We then decorate with chocolate chips or sprinkles and sometimes frosting.

We had a contest to see who could make the most tasteful and beautiful Rk. We decorated ours with balloons (skittles) party hats (frosting & alot of candy) and Kristen made (on hers) herself out of gummy stuff like fruit by the foot fruit roll ups and stickers. We won the contest!

40. My Mother used to make these when I was little. One tip I learned from her to help spread the rice krispie mixture into the dish is to wet the back of your spoon with some cold water. The mix does not stcik to the back of your spoon and makes quick work of getting it spread. Thanks Mom!

41. The only problem I've had in following the recipe is that there are no tips given on how to keep the mixture from sticking... to everything! I buttered/greased my hands, spoon, spatula, and pan... my husband assisted me and commented that he now knows how Frodo felt when caught in the web, lol! It was difficult to keep the mixture together and well-mixed; other than that the recipe is easy to remember and doesn't require much equipment :)

44. As a kid my mom always made us "chocolate rice krispi treats" she used Nestle semi sweet chips, Nestle buttescotch chips, and peanut butter, melt all and mix well, then add in the rice krispi's, since she lost the recipe years ago, we just do it by taste..I always use a little bit more chocolate chips than butterscotch, and about a half cup pnut butter, but it is the best ever..of course we have to have marshmallow ones occasionally too!

45. My family LOVES Rice Krispie treats...my Mom made them for me and my brother all the time growing up, and now I make them for my daughter and son. We do a twist on the recipe now, though, that makes them even yummier! I add 2 tablespoons of smooth peanut butter in the butter/marshmallow mixture and then stir in the cereal. Sometimes I also stir in chopped walnuts and drizzle the top with melted chocolate chips for an extra special treat. We have tried M&M's, sprinkles and all kinds of stir-in's...the possibilities are endless! :o)

51. I am Very new at making these. Lol, this was my first time to make these. I thought I had flubbed the recipe when the marshmallows overflowed the bowl in the microwave. I used a 1lb bag of mini's and a full box for Chocolate Rice Krispies. My kids had been begging me to make these as the start of the candy and goodies making next two weeks. All in all they were very easy to prepare. My hubby was the strong arm and mixed them while I held onto the HOT bowl. I have always loved these treats and I am happy to be able to bring them to my family. We recently found that we are celiacs (allergic to Gluten). We are happy to know that Rice flour contains no gluten and is used in many foods such as pastas, breads and cereals (yay). Thank you Kellogg's!!

(A whole bag is WAY too much chocolate) Also instead of pushing them down into a cake pan, I make scoop fuls and let them set on waxed paper. They stay gooyer, gooier, gooieer ha ha??!! Good Luck and enjoy! MMmmmm

58. There are times that I use the jar of marshmallow creme instead of a bag of marshmallows. That to me seems to help make this a little faster. This is a treat that my sons looked forward to when they came home from school every day. It was this or the tray of fruits I would cut up for them to eat while they were doing their homework. I also remember getting these when I was a little girl growing up in GA. My grandmo made them for all the grandchildern.

68. I have enjoyed these since shortly after the recipe came out. My grandchildren now enjoy Rice Krispy Treats too. My mom made them even better than the original recipe simply by adding a half cup of chopped pecans to the mix.

77. I remember going to my Mother-in-Laws and she would almost always have these for my kids. They just loved them. I started making them for them and they have never gotten tired of them. I know my 2 year old grandson will love them as much as his daddy did. My husband also likes the Crunchy Fudge Sandwiches; I made them for him when he dated; maybe that is why he married me. My Aunt introduced me to that recipe. We have been married going on 32 years. Linda

I didn't see the directions for rk treats on the box. So I tried the site which was simply to find. The directions was easy to follow for even a new dad at home. Thanks, they turned out great and the kids really enjoy them. -jclyde-

The marshmellows didn't really melt they became a small blob instead of creamy and they wouldn't melt... they taste like crispy chewing gum.... can anyone tell me what we are doing wrong? We used a whole bag of big marshmellows and used the stove... after that didn't work we used the microwave... we need help ASAP! Thanks, ya'll. If you can make these then you are very lucky! lol

117. I DONT HAVE A REVIEW I DO HAVE AN IDEA THAT I THINK YOUR COMPANY CAN PROFIT FROM AND MYSELF AS SUCH I WAS JUST THINKING RICE CRISPIES ARE REALLY GOOD THEY COME N ONLY TWO KINDS THOUGH. WHAT IF YOU HAD SOME STRAWBERRY FLAVORED RICE KRISPIES I SAY THIS BECAUSE STRAWBERRY IS A POPULAR FLAVOR AND IT WOULD AND MORE PAZAZZ TO THE COMMON RICE RECIPES IT GIVES US A BREAK FROM HAVING TO PUT RED FOOD COLORING ON THE TREATS I THINK THAT IS A FINE IDEA. STRAWBERRY N ICING WOULD BE A GREAT TREAT FOR THE CHILDREN.
