    Why use Kellogg's® Rice Krispies®?

As the first crisped rice cereal, Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® has been bringing families together in the kitchen for over 80 years.

To experience the timeless flavor, make your Rice Krispies Treats® squares with the original Rice Krispies® brand cereal.

    Where to buy

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using 1/4-cup measuring cup coated with cooking spray divide warm cereal mixture into portions. Using buttered hands shape each portion into 2 1/2- x 1 1/2-inch egg shapes. (Or, coat insides of plastic snap-apart Easter eggs with cooking spray. Press cereal mixture into eggs. Remove cereal mixture from plastic eggs.) Cool.

4. In small saucepan combine chocolate morsels and shortening. Cook over low heat until melted, stirring constantly. Dip bottoms of cereal eggs into chocolate. Decorate with sprinkles. Place on wax-paper-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate until chocolate is firm. Individually wrap in plastic wrap. Best if served the same day.

MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:

In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Continue with recipe as directed above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

Note:

For best results, use fresh marshmallows.

1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows.

Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.

Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container. To freeze, place in single layer on wax paper in airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 weeks. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.

My favorite memory of Rice Crispie Treats is when we were snowed in at our cottage for Christmas and we had no way of getting home for Christmas or to a grocery store. ( Therefore no presents) . We only had the groceries we had in our cottage and my mother told us to pick one thing we wanted for Christmas and she would make it some how ...some way .... ! My favorite snack in the world was Rice Crispies squares ... I loved them! And we definitely had Rice Crispies with us! My mother had no marshmallows -so she improvised and used brown sugar and butter ...and somehow made me the very best Christmas present ever ... a dish of Rice Crispie Squares. ( I did share them with the rest of the family). Now that my mother has passed away ... every time I see Rice Crispie Treats ... it brings back memories of my mother and my favorite Christmas present!

1. I decided to make the Easter Rice Krispie Eggs this year instead of our usual sugar cookies. I have no children at home anymore but two grandchildren who live far away and a 5 week old grandson whom I hope to share these yummy eggs with someday! My suggestion, after mixing all the ingredients together, is putting on a pair of clean rubber gloves, spray one had with Pam, and rub hands together. When you shape the eggs, they will not stick. But this does not last for the entire batch for I had to wash my hands THREE times and spray them again and each time it worked perfectly! I am letting them sit and cool and will soon dip each egg "point" into chocolate and then into the new spring colored sprinkles that I bought today. I will also be sharing them with Lexi and Tyler, two special little neighbors who love "Grandma Char's" treats!

2. These turn out super cute! I strongly suggest using a plastic egg like the medium sized ones that sell for 99 cents a piece with candy in them. It makes a perfect dozen. In stead of using our hands we used an ice cream scooper with non-stick spray. We also used a mini muffin tray to set them up right and achieve a cleaner look that was easier to move around. I definatly think that this will become an Easter tradition for our family.

3. I would like to recommend using Make'n Mold candy wafers for the chocolate portion of the Easter Egg Dippers project. Candy wafers are easier to melt/dip than chocolate chips, especially for kids. They taste great and come in various colors/flavors -- you could use yellow, pink, or purple for Easter. You could also drizzle different colors. Get them from craft/party stores or www.makenmold.com

4. My kids and I love to make these. We use white chocolate and add a touch of pastel food coloring for Easter. We sometimes dip them in candy sprinkles for an extra special treat.

5. We made the egg dippers using chocolate wafers and they were a hit. We added some green food coloring to some coconut to make some "grass" in which we displayed the eggs. Just make sure you wait untilt he chocolate is hardened if you don't want the coconut to stick.

6. My Kids and I had a blast making the Easter Egg Dipper Treats! They turned out adorable with the easter egg and chicks sprinkles. The kids were able to do most of the work making them which was a great accomplishment for them-they can't wait to take them to Daddy's office tomorrow for the staff! We used the plastic eggs to mold them into the egg shapes and it worked perfectly. This is definately be a Easter tradition in our house!

8. My 6 and 10 year olds just had a great time making these treats, they hardly needed my assistance. They used a butter wrapper (I save them to grease pans) to form each egg with their 1/4 cup of mixture. They let each "egg" cool for a minute or two and then reshaped each of the eggs before dipping. They dipped strawberries in the extra chocolate :)

9. Since rice crispy treats are one of my favorites, I thought it would be fun to make these instead of just coloring plain Easter eggs. My boyfriend, Tyler, and I had a blast making them! We took good 'ol Charlotte's advice and used plenty of Pam. We also used plastic easter eggs as a mold to shape our eggs. The eggs definitely need to be stored in an air tight container immediately or they get hard fast. You can nook the eggs for 20-25 seconds if they get hard and then eat them. That works too. I'd use more marshmallows than the recipe calls for next time. It was a lot of fun though and I can't wait to share them with my family today. Thanks again Charlotte for your advice.

11. I saw these treats on a commercial...they were so fun and easy! My 9 year old loved helping me. We used the plastic egg as a mold, and kept our fingers buttered for easy shaping! Thanks for the idea of dipping strawberries in the leftover chocolate-now we have another special treat for Easter morning!

12. I have two teenage girls. 17 and 14 years of age. We had a lot of fun making these today. Its going to be a new family tradition. We used both plastic eggs that we coated with cooking spray and paper cupcake cups. We used both white and milk chocolate and made some that were solid colored with sprinkled and mixed as well. They came out beautiful! It was nice to get together and share this.

15. These sound great and will make the perfect Easter treat! BUT, I do have a question (if anyone has suggestions) I would like to dip these into some sort of a peanut butter mixture - what should I mix the peanut butter in - milk, margarine?
